Huawei is making another move to reduce external dependency in mobile camera technologies. It has been revealed that the company will use two new camera sensors in its own devices with high-level image processing capabilities.
Huawei is coming with its own camera sensors
These two sensors, codenamed SC5A0CS and SC590XS, offer 50 megapixels of resolution and adopt the RYYB (red-yellow-yellow-blue) color filter structure that Huawei has been using for years. This structure increases image quality by capturing more light, especially in low-light conditions, compared to traditional RGB filters.

According to the leaked technical information, the SC5A0CS model is expected to be 1 inch in size and will be offered as the main camera with Huawei’s new generation Pura 80 Ultra model. The other sensor, the SC590XS, is 1/1.3 inch in size and functions as a telephoto sensor designed for long-distance shooting.
This sensor also supports Huawei’s newly developed “SuperPixGain HDR2.0” technology. HDR2.0 combines three different frames with the same exposure; prevents loss of detail in both bright and dark areas and largely eliminates the ghosting effect that is often encountered in HDR photos.
With this development, Huawei will start to produce its own solutions against giant manufacturers such as Sony and Samsung, which have been leading the sector in camera systems for a long time. The sensors are expected to be released first with the Mate 80 series.
