Marvel officially integrates Netflix series into the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Disney+ has updated its MCU timeline ordering to include the Netflix Defenders Saga – comprised of series like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Punisher – within the official MCU narrative.
The timeline order on Disney+ now includes Daredevil and Jessica Jones before Avengers: Age of Ultron. Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders are placed just before Captain America: Civil War, while The Punisher is placed between Black Panther and Doctor Strange.
Netflix Marvel series were added to Disney+ in March 2022, allowing a wider audience to access and rewatch them. Daredevil debuted in 2015 and Jessica Jones season 3 ended in June 2019.
Charlie Cox, the actor who played Matt Murdock in Daredevil, will reprise the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021. Now he will star alongside Vincent D’Onofrio as the Kingpin in the new Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again.
While Daredevil: Born Again was in development, news broke last year that the writers had been fired. Marvel Studios is changing its approach to series production.
Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin plays an important role in the MCU’s latest project, Echo. Echo received a review for the first three episodes and the full series is available on Disney+.
Echo is the latest MCU series to explore the character’s story, and D’Onofrio’s Kingpin involvement underscores the interconnected narrative within the MCU.
