With the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on PC, the mod community is once again buzzing. Among the many new costume and in-game mods, one community-created project has already garnered a lot of attention. Led by Discord user LDD565, this mod will bring a multiplayer mode to Marvel’s Spider-Man. A trailer with the first gameplay footage was also recently released.
What does Marvel’s Spider-Man multiplayer mode offer?
Marvel’s Spider-Man multiplayer mode allows players to join up to 16 people in the same world. There is currently no PvP, or player-versus-player combat, but this feature is planned for the future. The mod supports some of the core story missions, but the development team is currently working on more free roam content.
In this project, which provides compatibility with mods, in order for your friends to see your costume mods, the same mods must be installed on their systems.
Players who want to install the multiplayer mode will be able to try it out using copies of the game purchased from Steam or the Epic Games Store. The mode allows players to create a lobby and connect other players via Steam invite or through the host’s IP address. The project has been in development since August 2024, and no release date has been announced at this time.
As this is a completely community-created mod, there is no official Insomniac Games support. The mod developers are continuing the project with support through Patreon and Ko-fi platforms. Supporters are also given the chance to participate in a special closed beta process. Those who want to closely follow the development of the project can join the official Discord channel.
In this sense, it is necessary to send a congratulations to Sony PlayStation and Insomniac: For nearly two years now, they have not let PC modders get away with anything, and they have not pursued any legal action or interfered with any modifications to their games.
