OpenAI creates a dedicated superintelligence team
OpenAI is preparing to take artificial intelligence research to a new level. The company, which has been sharing its ideas about superintelligent artificial intelligence for some time, does not want to leave this field empty. It has announced a team that will ensure that advanced artificial intelligence systems act in the interests of humanity.
The Superalignment team, which will be led by Ilya Sutskever and Jan Leike, does not just want artificial intelligence to learn. OpenAI, which aims to improve the capabilities of superintelligent systems, will be careful not to take a position against humanity. However, it believes that superintelligent systems could surpass the capacity of the human brain within ten years.
The Superalignment team has announced that it aims to solve the fundamental challenges of superintelligence within four years. The work will improve the safety of existing models such as ChatGPT. It will also reduce potential risks in areas such as abuse, economic disruption, disinformation and discrimination.
The superintelligent AI team will consume 20 per cent of OpenAI’s resources over the next four years. This is believed to be the largest investment in the field of superintelligence. It also exceeds the amount of research done by humanity to date.
On the other hand, ChatGPT usage declined for the first time. Internet analysis site SimilarWeb announced that global traffic to OpenAI’s ChatGPT application, including both desktop and mobile traffic, fell 9.7 percent in June.
