Huawei is facing a serious investigation in Europe. The company’s representatives have been temporarily banned from entering the European Parliament buildings. This decision was taken as part of a corruption investigation conducted by the Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Unpleasant developments regarding Huawei
On March 13, the Federal Police raided locations linked to Huawei in Brussels, Flanders, Wallonia and Portugal. As a result of these operations, it was reported that evidence was obtained that some officials in the European Parliament were involved in corruption related to Huawei. All these developments were met with great surprise in the sector.

The prosecutor’s office stated that the investigation was not limited to lobbying activities and had a broader structure. According to the information obtained, Huawei allegedly offered expensive gifts and covered travel expenses to members of the European Parliament in order to influence their decisions. It is alleged that the company is trying to interfere with regulatory policies in Europe with these methods.
The number of Huawei employees authorized to enter the European Parliament was announced as nine. These names will no longer be able to enter all Parliament buildings in Europe’s 27 member states. It is not yet clear when the investigation will be completed.
The accusations against Huawei and the corruption allegations in the European Parliament could seriously affect the company’s activities in Europe. It is already a matter of curiosity what new findings will emerge in the later stages of the investigation.
