Qualcomm’s next-generation laptop processor series Snapdragon X2 may reverse the negative perception after the first model. The latest information revealed that the Snapdragon X Elite 2 model will offer a performance increase of up to 22 per cent and will reshape the competition in next-generation laptops.
Snapdragon X2 will offer a significant performance increase
Positioned as the most powerful model of the series, Snapdragon X Elite 2 provides a minimum boost frequency of 4.4 GHz. This value was limited to 4.3 GHz in the previous generation. It is stated that the new frequency value can go even higher in high workloads. It is stated that the performance increase is based not only on clock speed, but also on improvements in chip manufacturing technology.

The first generation Snapdragon X Elite was produced with TSMC’s N4P production process. The next generation X2 may switch to the more advanced N3P or N2P processes. Both processes will contribute to reducing energy consumption while increasing the speed of the processor. However, if N2P technology is preferred, there is a possibility that Snapdragon X2 will be delayed until 2026 due to the production schedule.
The development process of the Snapdragon X2 family was largely completed in mid-2024. Within the scope of the studies carried out under the code name ‘Project Glymur’, it is rumoured that the tests were completed in July and August. This information indicates that the next generation of X2-based laptops could be launched in 2025.
