WhatsApp continues to receive privacy-oriented features. The messaging platform will allow users to lock certain chats using a fingerprint or password. In this way, users will have the chance to hide the chats they want in the app.
Chat locking feature on the way for WhatsApp
WhatsApp is becoming more secure with the introduction of a critical privacy feature. The new feature, discovered by WABetaInfo in the WhatsApp 2.23.8.2 beta for Android, will allow locking chats. These chats will be opened using a fingerprint or password.
The new feature being tested by the popular platform seems to be a simple way to keep sensitive conversations secure. While it is currently possible to lock the WhatsApp app on Android and iOS, you cannot hide a specific chat.
The details of the new locked chat feature are unclear for now. But it is expected to allow locking both group and individual chats. Locking individual messages is unlikely to be possible. We expect the feature to be available globally soon.
Another advantage of this feature is that media files such as photos and videos are not automatically found in the phone’s gallery. In other words, messages and file contents in locked chats will remain completely in the WhatsApp application.
WhatsApp will provide users with an extra layer of security for their private conversations. Although it is being tested on Android for now, it seems possible to make it available on both Android and iOS when it is announced.
