Meta recently announced the dismissal of approximately 20 employees for ‘leaking confidential internal information’. This has led the company to reconsider its internal security and privacy policies. So why does Meta take such a careful approach and what effect does this have on employee morale? Here are the details…
Meta takes tough action against privacy violations
Meta has terminated the employment of approximately 20 employees due to recent privacy violations. In a statement to the press, a spokesperson for the company emphasised that employees leaking confidential information is against company policy and will be penalised in any case. The company stated that it takes such violations seriously and will continue its efforts to detect similar violations in the coming period.

It was stated that employees were frequently warned that such mistakes would have serious consequences when they joined the company and afterwards. As a result of a recent investigation, employees leaked information about the company’s internal meetings and unannounced product plans. The company decided to strengthen its privacy policies following these incidents and plans to take further action to prevent future violations.
The morale within the meta is not considered high. So much so that CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s major changes in content control policies, the termination of DEI (diversity, equality and inclusion) programmes and the recent layoffs aimed at low-performing employees have caused unrest among employees. Andrew Bosworth, the company’s CTO, stated that the leaks will cause the company’s actions to be harsher.
Meta is determined to follow such violations and it seems that the company’s privacy policies will be implemented with a stricter control in the future.
