Microsoft is introducing MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) 2.0 support with the Windows 11 Canary version. This update is one of the biggest changes to the MIDI system since 1983. Along with the new Windows MIDI Services, it brings MIDI 2.0 support and improvements that allow MIDI 1.0 to work on Windows-based ARM devices.
MIDI 2.0 Support for Windows 11!
MIDI, a protocol that allows electronic musical instruments to connect to computers and other devices, plays a crucial role in modern music production. MIDI 2.0 was first announced in 2019 and offers several innovations, including higher speed, better sound quality, enhanced instrument control, and more precise synchronization. By adding MIDI 2.0 support to the Windows operating system for the first time, Microsoft aims to provide musicians with a more powerful experience.

The new update is currently being tested experimentally in the Windows 11 Canary 27788 version and will be available to all users after extensive testing. Microsoft stated that it has completely rewritten the MIDI system to offer musicians an advanced user experience and that this update provides a solid foundation for further expansion and improvements in the future.
In addition to this significant update for music production, several new features have been added to the latest Canary version of Windows 11. One of these is a new feature offering one-click access to OneDrive. Users will now have faster access to files on OneDrive when switching between Windows 11 devices, as well as iOS and Android devices.
Additionally, a new feature added to the Microsoft Store allows users to select specific components when installing games. This feature enables the installation of only desired parts in large games such as Call of Duty and Halo.
