Marvel announced some time ago that it was postponing several TV series and film projects. Marvel Studios, which changed the release dates of six films in total, said that Captain America 4 and several Avengers were among those productions. Finally, it was announced that Shang-Chi 2 has been postponed indefinitely.
When will Shang-Chi 2 be released?
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which was released in 2021, was a huge success and gained an important place in the MCU world. Although star Simu Liu and director Destin Daniel Cretton have previously said that a sequel is on the way, the project has reportedly been delayed.
In a fascinating statement on Threads, Liu said that the sequel would follow the events of the new Avengers films such as ‘The Kang Dynasty’ and ‘Secret Wars’. However, according to Liu, circumstances beyond his control led to the postponement of filming.
The strikes organised by the Writers Guild of America (WGA) are thought to be the main reason for the postponement. According to critics, these protests made it difficult for Marvel to proceed with its planned projects.
As a result, Marvel has decided to rework three Phase 5 films and three Phase 6 films. For example, Captain America 4: Brave New World, which was scheduled for release on 3 May 2024, has been postponed to 26 July 2024. This delay in turn pushed Thunderbolts back to 20 December 2024.
Despite the delayed release date, it is possible to say that Shang-Chi 2 will be released. Although some claims on social media point to 2026, it is not possible to give an exact date.
