Samsung publishes 2024 sustainability report!
Samsung is taking serious steps to reduce carbon emissions. According to the targets set in 2022, the company aims to achieve net zero carbon emissions for electronic consumer products by 2030. By the end of 2023, 93.4% of this unit has transitioned to renewable energy. In countries such as the USA, Europe, Korea, China, Brazil, India, and Vietnam, this rate has reached 100%. For memory and foundry services, the target is set for 2050, with an 11.6% reduction in emissions compared to 2022.
To increase resource circularity and reduce environmental impact, Samsung has expanded its electronic waste recovery programs to over 70 countries by the end of 2023. This shows the company’s commitment to recycling and reusing resources.
Samsung is also active in social sustainability. By 2030, the company aims to double the number of female executives compared to 2022. The Stellar Forest program aims to create jobs for people with disabilities. Additionally, Samsung has expanded supply chain management to include second-level suppliers and non-manufacturing suppliers.
In terms of security, Samsung is extending Samsung Knox to smart TVs and connected home appliances. Starting in January 2024, security updates for Galaxy devices will be extended up to 7 years.
