The popular messaging app WhatsApp, which is constantly updated by Meta to include new features and improvements, will no longer be available on certain older models of smartphones. The list of phones that’ll lose WhatsApp support includes phones from major brands such as Samsung, Motorola, Huawei, Sony, LG, and Apple.
The affected devices are those running older versions of Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS operating systems. Specifically, WhatsApp will cease to function on devices with Android versions earlier than 5.0 and iOS versions earlier than 12.0. This decision is part of WhatsApp’s ongoing effort to ensure security and functionality, which often means phasing out support for outdated technology.
While some of the devices on the list are quite old, they are still in use by many due to their reliable hardware or the inability to upgrade to newer models. Users of these devices are advised to check the list below to determine if they need to upgrade their phone to continue using WhatsApp safely and effectively.
