Xiaomi introduced new products from smartphones to wristbands at an event in China. In addition to the Mix Fold 3, the Pad 6 Max tablet and Smart Band 8 Pro were unveiled at the launch. Surprisingly, CyberDog 2, the updated version of the robot dog, also took its place.
Features of Xiaomi’s backflipping CyberDog 2 robot
Xiaomi first showed that it would compete in this field by introducing its robot dog two years ago. While the first model had a more robotic appearance, CyberDog 2 resembles a real dog with its legs, mouth and ears.
Standing 36.7 cm tall and weighing 8.9 kg, the robot dog is more compact than its predecessor in order to look “cuter”. It has 12 servo motors and can reach a speed of 1.6 m/s. According to Xiaomi, the robot has new CyberGear actuators for better mobility and features such as backflips.
CyberDog 2 has 19 sensors for vision, touch and hearing. It uses these sensors to track its owner, recognize human faces and respond to gestures. The Chinese manufacturer also plans to open-source the robot to encourage third-party developers.
The robot demo shared during the launch also shows Xiaomi’s advances in artificial intelligence for CyberDog 2.
Let us also remind you that Xiaomi has not made an update on its humanoid robot CyberOne, which it introduced last year.
CyberDog 2, which will only be available in China for now, starts at $1600. The robot dog will be available in black, blue and gold colors.
