Set in the dangerous and supernatural environment of Chernobyl, Chernobylite attracted attention with its similar structure to the STALKER series when it met with players in 2021. However, the main focus of the game was on survival, base construction and team management. The Kickstarter campaign for the sequel exceeded its funding goal in just four days and accelerated the development process.
A bigger open world is coming with Chernobylite
Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone follows in the footsteps of the first game and aims to offer a wider open-world RPG experience. Players will attempt to survive by balancing between three rival factions. Options include scientists, mercenaries and mutants. Relationships with these factions will directly affect the game world and gameplay dynamics.

In addition to the core mechanics from the previous game, six different classes, six enhancement features, and various ability systems will be included. Players will be able to take on the role of sniper and hunt enemies from afar, or focus on technological abilities by harnessing the supernatural power of chernobylite crystals.
One of the most remarkable mechanics in the first game was the ability to change the timeline using chernobylite crystals. In Chernobylite 2, this feature has been updated with a new system called ‘planewalking’. Players will now be able to change their character build at any time in the game. For example, while starting a mission as a sniper, it will be possible to instantly transform into a melee master in a dangerous melee scenario.
The fact that the Kickstarter campaign exceeded the targeted funding in the early days of the Kickstarter campaign revealed the interest in the game. The ability to switch between first-person and third-person modes, which was one of the additional goals set in the first phase, was one of the first innovations funded within the scope of the campaign. In addition, all weapons from the first game will be included in the new game.
Chernobylite 2 aims to bring a different perspective to the survival and open world RPG genre. Although the exact release date of the game is not yet known, the success of the Kickstarter process increases the confidence in the project.
