X (formerly Twitter), which started testing unexpected features after being acquired by Elon Musk, was testing the ability to hide likes last month. However, Elon Musk does not recommend using this feature, which became globally available in September.
Elon Musk: You can hide likes on X, but I don’t recommend it
For social media users, the number of likes a post receives has always been important. But for years, if there was anything more important on Twitter, it was the number of times a user liked a post. Last month, the platform brought an end to an era by offering the option to hide likes.
After the launch of this feature, Elon Musk’s statement was not delayed. “You can now hide your likes, but I recommend keeping them open and only using bookmarks for interesting posts,” Musk said in a tweet.
With the new feature, you can hide the posts you like from other users. When you activate this feature, the posts you like from both users’ timeline and your profile will be disabled.
You, on the other hand, will be able to see and access your own likes from your profile. It should be noted that this feature is only available to Twitter Blue (or X Premium) subscribers.
On the other hand, a report that surfaced a while ago revealed that X suffered a huge loss of users with the lowest number of downloads in the last 10 years. The reason for this is unknown, but users are complaining about the monetization of many features.
