The Xbox Games Showcase event is highly anticipated in the gaming world. This year’s event is rumored to feature updates to new Xbox games, as well as the unveiling of a brand new Xbox handheld console.
A new Xbox handheld console and a surprise game are expected to be unveiled at the Xbox Games Showcase event
On Sunday, June 9th, the Xbox Games Showcase event has some big surprises in store for gamers. According to TrueAchievements, well-known leaker eXtas1s has posted a video on YouTube claiming that a new Xbox handheld console will be unveiled.
Although the video is in Spanish, a translation on the ‘GamingLeaksAndRumours’ subreddit states that a teaser about the “new Xbox Portable” will be shown at the event. If this information is correct, we will only see a brief teaser of the device at the event.
The video also claims that there will be a surprise release of a game from Xbox Game Studios after the event. This means that a major Xbox game could debut on the same day.
Possible candidates include Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Towerborne or State of Decay 3. Starfield DLC is also a possibility, although we have yet to see a gameplay video from the Undead Labs-developed sequel.
As for the handheld console, it’s hard to speculate on what form this device will take. Naturally, an Xbox handheld console could be a great option as a portable Xbox Game Pass machine.
But the value of this device will depend on whether gamers can download games locally or only play them via the cloud. The latter could be especially disappointing for gamers who could get a similar experience on their phones with Xbox Cloud Gaming and a controller like the Backbone One or Turtle Beach Stealth Ultra.
We’ll find out on June 9th if these surprises are true and what new innovations will be introduced at the event. We’ll be bringing you everything that’s announced at the event right here, so stay tuned!
