Technology market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC) has announced the largest smartphone manufacturers for the third quarter of 2024. In the rankings, Asia-based companies especially stood out. But which brand holds the top spot?
Samsung dominates the market with 57.8 million shipments, capturing 18.3% market share, securing its place at the top. The U.S. tech giant Apple follows closely in second place, with 56 million shipments and a 17.7% market share.
Xiaomi and OPPO rank third and fourth, with 42.8 million and 28.8 million shipments, claiming 13.5% and 9.1% market shares, respectively. The rising star vivo is right behind them, with 27 million shipments and an 8.5% market share, marking a 22% growth compared to the same period last year — an impressive increase.
Total Shipments Reached 316 Million
According to the data, a total of 316.1 million smartphones were sold, which is 4% more than the shipments in the third quarter of last year, indicating a rise in phone sales.
