Qualcomm is preparing to launch the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, a new chipset that will be cheaper than models equipped with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 designed for high-performance smartphones and tablets.
Recent reports indicate that a new processor identified as “SM8735” was spotted in Xiaomi’s HyperOS code. This code number is notable for its similarity to the “SM8635” number used as a reference for the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. This mysterious processor is believed to be the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4.
Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 to Debut in Xiaomi Phones
Recently, the Redmi Turbo 4, expected to be released globally as the POCO F7, appeared in the IMEI database, revealing its model number. The Qualcomm model number “SM8735” was found in the code lines of the Chinese manufacturer’s software.
Reports suggest that Xiaomi is testing a smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. The brand could be among the first to utilize Qualcomm’s new generation price-performance-focused chipset since the launch of its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, in the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro.
There are currently no details regarding the changes Qualcomm plans to make to differentiate the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. It’s worth noting that the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is expected to have performance close to that of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and the new generation is anticipated to be slightly above the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Qualcomm is expected to announce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 at an event planned for October 21, with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 anticipated to be launched in 2025.
